​INTERNSHIPS & EXPERIENCE​

Northshore Academy -  Lower School   Peabody, MA

     September - December 2013     Art Therapy Intern

      Assisted and led various activities and groups with the elementary-aged learners at Northshore Academy. Primary responsibilities included: assisting with and then leading a social skills group, working with other art therapy masters level interns leading an art therapy group with selected students, supporting work in a drama therapy group, assisting and leading lessons in art class, reading and organizing case files, writing progress reports for selected learners, sitting in on numerous meetings involving both art therapy and social work. 

 

Cardinal Cushing Centers    Hanover, MA

     Summer 2013     Substitute Teaching Assistant

     Assists the classroom teacher with implementation of student programs and general classroom supervision.  Primary responsibilities included: providing both group and individual instruction to students, assisting the teacher with preparation and development of teaching materials, helping maintain the classroom environment to facilitate learning experiences, working with students on daily activity skill building, and acting as emergency replacement of classroom staff.

 

Cardinal Cushing Centers  Hanover, MA                                             

     January 2013     Art Department Student Intern         â€‹     

     Assisted the Art Director in preparing daily activities. Provided input on all projects and proposed new projects that were enthusiastically accepted by the Director and added to the curriculum of the program.  Demonstrated the activities for each class and tailored the project to each individual as necessary based on their respective intellectual disabilities. Monitored lunch and daily recreation activities.  Assisted with other classrooms as required.  Organized art supplies and aided in cleaning the classroom at the close of each day.

Wingate at Silver Lake Kingston, MA                                           

     January 2012     Activities Department Student Intern​     

     Led and assisted in numerous and varied activities with the elderly community at Wingate.  Activities were conducted in both one-on-one and group settings and included: morning coffee and discussion, bingo, crafts and reflections, music and sing-alongs, in-patient room visits and individual art projects. Planned future expressive therapy activities for the program director.  Assisted with various other tasks such as mail delivery and transporting of patients. â€‹

       Created and implemented two activities for art classes regularly held in the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salem programs.
